I do not know how it works, but I know that Shai has always been kind. I train hard, but he is fair. Roo and I are his only students, and we do our best to make him proud.

They are my family. I could not be more content.

Humans know them as Kirin, but we know each other as Faunlyn, Family. The greatest strength is our love. It is the one thing that never stops, never lessens, and only grows with more sharing. We help each other, even if we do no know each other, or are from different mountains. Our souls are forever intertwined with joy and sorrow.

-=pauses a moment, smiling softly=-

There are only a few humans who have come into such a family. My own family has been a part of Faunlyn for life times. My mother has rescued Roo when he was a child, and Jalaren when he was younger. Even though that was life times ago, Kirin do not forget.

Faunlyn. [He tests the word - he has an aptitude for languages, and catches its particular sound quickly.] Family... and you can share all this, though you are, physically, mentally, still human? What a gift... [He shakes his head in amazement.]

Though still, I would not give up Earth. I'd travel far, see, learn - but I would come back to Earth. Perhaps it's a matter of how one grows up. Home remains home.

My home is where my heart lies. Even if my mother lives on Earth, her heart is in Fire Mountain. One day, she too will go home.no

Would anything be different? The Ancestors have a path for us all. We must walk it. If it is a hundred lifetimes that I am human, and must walk each time to where my home is, I will do it.

Though, it would be easier to be Kirin at birth, it would not increase or lessen the family I have today.
